NEW THINGS COMING, WHAT TO EXPECT FOR THE FUTURE Good, Bad, and Ugly

 

WE MAY BE FACING MORE DIFFICULT CHALLENGES, HOLD HANDS AND ACT LIKE A NATION TOGETHER!  NOTHING CAN DETER AMERICANS UNITED!

 

In 1918 when the Spanish Flu ravaged America, and our soldiers fighting in Europe, and civilians all over Europe, we believe about 700,000 to 800,000 Americans died. Corona Virus, and DELTA VIRUS HAVE NOW killed 777,000 in the USA. MY GREAT GRANDFATHER DIED IN THAT EPIDEMIC OF 1918. SO THIS CURRENT VIRUS IS VERY PERSONAL TO ME AND MY FAMILY.

 

TODAY, WE ARE NEAR 800,000 DEAD IN THE USA, and 5.2 million dead world wide.

 

No doubt the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year celebrations will enable more infections.

 

BUT THIS IS NOT THE POINT OF THIS LETTER. My friends consider these words:

 

In our commercial appraisal and environmental company, we track domestic and international trends. We have data sources and access to over 14,000,000 data points, because we have to keep abreast of trends that can impact values, or impact environmental impacts on properties.

 

Our sources tell us that some form of Corona, or Delta, or new mutations...such as Omicron, (new Covid-19 variants) spreading in several southern African countries. In a matter of days, this virus will continue to scatter around the world. Already it is in Great Britain, and where-ever airlines, or ships, or trains go...the virus will follow.

 

Variants come rapidly when people refuse to get vaccinated, and therefore there are more opportunities for mutations. Sadly, a large percentage of people in the USA still refuse to be vaccinated, and they endanger other people. Sadly some of this has become politicized by ill educated or ill informed politicians.

 

But in Africa, where in some areas only 10% of the population has been immunized, it is a "petri dish for mutations". Thus another virus is racing across the world as fast as airlines and transportation can carry these sick "carriers" of this new virus.

First reports are that current vaccines will not protect against this new mutation. There is no vaccine yet developed specific to this mutation.

 

I was thrilled to see the crowds at the New York massive Celebration last Thursday, but then alarmed to wonder, "How Many MIGHT BE EXPOSED TO THIS NEW ONE?"

 

Even with our brilliant drug companies and medical science, it will still take months to develop enough information, conduct tests and trials, and hopefully come up with a new vaccination. But the worse thought is, that more mutants and virus strains will probably come because so many people, ignorant or stubborn, or just unable, will get vaccinations, even if they are developed quickly. We have to reduce the number of present people who still are unvaccinated to lower the odds or more mutations.

 

This is why the stock market dropped, and industrial and business investors in New York and around the world, hit panic buttons when it was reported that the strain has already made it to Europe. It is just a matter of time before the US is infected, even if we "blockade" air and international travel from Africa.

 

This virus, according to experts, including Corona, Delta, the new Omicron, (and others) may be with us for many years. Our lives will be changed somewhat for years...living with caution and masks and vaccines, no doubt will be with us for years.

 

At BBAR Inc. (Boothe and Associates) we appraise properties, and must consider trends. We will be seeing many ways to try to safeguard the American people. But the way we live, and do business is changing, and will undergo great changes in the future. Progressive and intelligent leaders will adapt. Others will fail like the thousands of franchises, food operations, entertainment and travel companies.

 

Those who study, and are willing to innovate will find new ways to function.

 

• Perhaps greater "on line" and distance work. New home buyers and smart companies are already expanding computer and "distance" online communication facilities.
• FOOD PREPARATION, WILL HIGHLIGHT DELIVERY AND TAKE OUT OPTIONS.
• UPPER SCALE RESTURANTS WILL RETURN TO 'PRIVATE ENCLOSED BOOTHS" FOR THE LUXURY MEAL CUSTOMERS (LIKE WE OFTEN SAW 60 YEARS AGO IN THE USA.
• MY FREIND, JOE ALVARADO, USED TO ORGANIZE CITY WIDE EVENTS TO GIVE GIFTS TO POOR CHILDREN AT CHRISTMAS. LAST YEAR AFTER GIVING OVER 20,000 GIFTS TO KIDS IN LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, HE CUAGHT COVID FROM THE KIDS HE PLAYED SANTA CLAUS TO, AND DIED A FEW WEEKS LATER. This is an example of the type of events that will have to adapt in future years.
• HOTELS, AIRLINES, TRAVEL INDUSTRIES, MANUFACTURING, SPORTS, SCHOOLS, COLLEGES, ALL WILL HAVE TO ADAPT IN THE NEW WORLD. THE WORST MY FRIENDS IS NOT OVER YET.
• BE SMART, STUDY TRENDS, BE FLEXIBLE, BE READY TO ADAPT AND BE SAFE. TRY TO PERSUADE YOUR FRIENDS AND LOVED ONES TO BE SENSITIVE TO THE WELFARE OF ALL THOSE WE CONTACT.
• New Air filtration systems, some using infrared light, some using chemicals, some using fans and HEPA rated filters are being marketed.  Look carefully to see which are really effective against viral problms. We will see more of these in workplaces and homes. But the best is to protect yourself, don't get too close to others, stay away from tight crowds, keep your body and your environment clean and sterile. TAKE CARE MY FRIEND.
