Insights into V.P. Cheney's Cowardly Character
The hunting accident last weekend in Texas is a good opportunity to see true insights into Vice President Cheney’s character and personality.
When he shot Harry Whittington, in the face, neck and check with dozens of shotgun pellets (many of which are imbedded and will never be removed), Cheney’s response (according to USA Today reports) was to:
- Go to dinner while Whittington went to a hospital.
- Slip out of Texas hurredly and not inform the press, or authorities about what he had done
- Have an underling make a public statement that "Whittington did not announce himself" implying that the man Cheney shot was to blame!
In Texas, hunting is part of the culture. There are manners of honor and tradition in Texas hunting. First, a hunter never “swings around and shoots behind himself when there are other hunters”. Secondly a hunter never pulls a trigger until he “clears” the target area as safe. Thirdly, a hunter stays with, and cares for someone who is injured.
In Washington, D.C., instead of Cheney stepping up and admitting to the press what had happened, he hid behind office doors as the press, and White House press people tried to explain what had happened. The public reports coming out repeatedly implied that Whittington, in getting shot by Cheney, was at fault.
USA Today had a telling cartoon, showing Cheney shooting, a man diving. The caption: “Oh, I thought you were the Bill Of Rights!”
U.S. GOVERNMENT RESPONSE MEANT TO HELP KATRINA POOR TURNED OUT TO BE A BOON FOR HOTEL INDUSTRY INSTEAD
The Government report that studied the U.S. government response to Katrina was scalding. It pointed to incompetence from the very top (Bush had to be shown videos 2 days later of news stories to know what had happened, after the White House ignored early warnings of flooding), to Homeland Security, to FEMA.
One of stories told of millions of dollars being spent to reserve and pay for hotel rooms, some at $400 per night, that were not even occupied by Katrina victims. The hotel industry loved it. Katrina victims were often given mobile homes that had had the T.V.'s and appliances "removed" so they would not be stolen by the "poor blacks".
Americans, liberals, conservatives, Republicans, Democrats, are outraged by this incompetence.
