Battle lowers image of the U.S. senate
While Republicans work to "pack" the judicial system with conservative judges, the U.S. Senate is engaged in a battle that could change the body forever. For certain, the prestige of the body is declining, as radicals from both parties, at both extremes continue to dominate the agenda.
Moderate Republicans, and moderate Democrats should find ways to work together for the benefit of the American people. But radicals of both parties, have engaged in a debate that could very well make the Senate a non effective body.
When parliamentary proceedure, and rules changing is necessary for one party to dominate another, then the institution has crossed the threshold, from being a credible responsive body, to becoming a pathetic, petty group of children, arguing over "I want to have it all my way".
I am so disappointed in this group of "clowns" we now call Senators. Politics is all about compromise. The Senate used to be a hall of dignity and mutual respect. Now it is involved a a brawl much like the House of Representatives.
We call on moderates. Don't change these time honored Senate rules. Don't pack the courts with judges of a right wind ideology. Remember the words of the Buddha. "The middle way is the path to enlightenment." Moderation in all things. Moderation represents the vast majority of Americans. Act like the senior statesmen that we elected you to be.
