Pandemic Checklist

This virus, if it spreads in the USA probably and hopefully won’t impact you and yours, but just in case, be prepared:

24 days supply of food:

Staples such as

Dried beans

Rice

Corn meal

Flour (do you have ingredients to make breads?)

Dehydrated potatoes

Instant dried meals

2 sources of water:

  Gallon jugs

  Well or other source

BACK UP POWER AND FUEL SUPPLY OR SOURCE:

Power: 5,000 to 10,000+/- watt portable generator (depending upon size of your house)

Back up fuel for autos and generator

OTHER SUPPLIES:

Canned goods such as canned tomatoes, soups, back up foods

frozen, freeze dried, and canned vegetables.

You have kids or grandkids...lots of popcorn!

Spices, salt, pepper, dried condiments.

Basic medicines, aspirin, flu and cold remedies. Decongestants such as

Sudafed, things to help keep lungs clear. I have found as a pilot, it helpful in stopping or decongesting lungs. Check with your Dr. and look for

Pseudoephedrine

Common brands: SudoGest, Sudafed 12 Hour, Sudafed 24 HR

BREATHING AND EYES

Get a good quality respiratory or breathing filter for you and your loved ones. I went to Home Depot and 2 Lowes stores and they said they were almost sold out.

Eye and glove protection (if you may spray clorox or strong chemicals)

Sanitizing liquids, Clorox bleach, surface cleaners, carpet shampoos with an added 5% clorox bleach

 to 95% water.

IDEAS:

Additional dry pet food

Clean your air HVAC filters and buy back up new ones.

Here's what to do with air conditioning or heating system:

(Spray filters and inside of HVAC vents, coils, with same solution mixture of 5% bleach and 95% water)

Hand soap and hand disinfectants (use both multiple times a day)

DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACE, EYES, NOSE, INFECTION IS SPREAD THIS WAY. AVERAGE PERSON TOUCHES FACE OVER 150 TIMES A DAY.

Sanitize: A few ideas are door knobs, bathroom fixtures and handles, all hard surfaces, refrigerator inside and out. Door handles, keyboards, telephones.

(By the way one study found that cell phones have an exceptionally high rate of virus), auto doors, steering, seats and dashboards. TV remote controllers.

Health surveys say that in a sampling of 800 men, 70% of long beards,

tested had traces of animal feces in the beard. Just a thought guys.

Suggestion: Guys need to wash your hands and your beards several times a day.

I do.

STERILIZE DAILY:

Story: When I was a kid, 58 years ago I worked at a food service,

there we were by law, required by our local health inspector to soak every glass, dish & eating utensil for 3 min in a sink of hot water with

a tablespoon clorox in it. Then we rinsed again with hot water. Why?

To avoid viral epidemics.

NEW HABITS:

*Eating tables, counter surfaces, drinking glasses, plates, every eating utensil.

*Wash clothes with hot water and detergent, and some Clorox...

sanitizes according to the CDC.

* Don’t touch, or be touched by strangers.

* Leave area where sneeze and coughing occurs.

* Don’t be in rooms with crowds. One church in S. Korea has infect over 100+

new victims, now in quarantine or medical treatment after a church service,

where is thought they shared communion.

* Avoid crowds even in open or outside areas .

* Avoid airports.

* Avoid flying, trains and train stations, busses, bus stations.

*If you must travel, sanitize your sitting area, before and during your trip.

*Warm soapy shower and change clothes after a trip.

*Avoid public restaurants for a while. If you must, be in a public sitting room or space, clean and sterilize your sitting area with Clorox wipes or spray.

*Avoid hospital lobbies unless it is urgent, concentrations of sick

people and germs there.

*Good time NOT to hug, kiss or touch.

*Avoid foods you have not prepared or supervised

*Cook all foods at temperatures suitable to kill and clean viruses

*Wash all vegetables and fruits with a mild "veggie detergent" or simply use water with a mild detergent, or even a drop or two of iodine.

*Wash all meats before cooking with warm or hot water.

*One drop of denatured (clear) iodine in a quart of water will help kill some bugs. Also a drop of iodine and a tablespoon of salt in a cup of warm water makes a good gargle.

If you feel sick contact your doctor, don’t delay.

Work environment:

Ask your boss if you can work from home. But if you must work in an office ask to have it sterilized per above checklist. One of our companies does a germ sterilization/reduction cleaning for offices for 50 cents per square foot. Ours is a $2,000 minimum fee to go out, prepare the chemicals, suit up and do the sterilization. Best for people to not be in the rooms when we are using chemical treatments. We use products from 35 years experience and refer to CDC for chemical lists for sanitization. Email us at: benboothe@gmail.com or call "ben" at: 817 793 1484 to schedule a germ reduction cleaning for a business, office or industrial location.

Hope these ideas are helpful and stay clean, stay healthy.

Make preparations as you can afford, before there is a rush. For example most facial air filters are made in China...reports are that there is already a backlog of orders and some stores in the USA have sold out.

(Disclaimer, we are not medical doctors and always check with your personal physician for health questions)

Best of luck. Be smart. Be prepared. Do not panic, but be informed!

Better to use your mind than rely totally upon statements from politicians. Use your better judgement.

.
