JAPAN TEACHES US, IT IS TIME TO MAKE OUR OWN POWER AND BECOME INDEPENDENT FROM THE GIANT GRIDS

With the massive destruction in Japan, nature has asserted it's power, but Ben Boothe, ofhttp://www.benboothe.com asks a question.

Toxic nuclear waste from Japanese power plant "WIND WOULD HAVE BEEN CLEANER AND SAFER"

With the billions that we have spent on risky ventures such as the “Gulf Oil BP Deep Well” and the giant Nuclear Plants, and the billions that will be spent to clean up their disasters, “SHOULDN’T WE CONSIDER THAT PERHAPS THERE IS A BETTER WAY?”

How many people have to die and suffer because of our "energy" mistakes, thinking giant concentrated nuclear, oil, gas and coal are superior. It is time to "MAKE OUR OWN"

There are some basic ideas that simply are valid at this time in history. Giant utility grids benefit giant business and yet they are only as strong as their weakest points. This is true of the oil and gas industry distribution system as well. For the billions spent on the nuclear plant, and subsequent disaster in Japan, every home in Japan couldbe equipped with local, on site solar panels, or house sized wind turbines and solar water heating systems. This would eliminate electric bills, eliminate the need for billions in new transmission lines, and eliminate the public safety risks and clean up, that the public has to spend to clean up the mistakes of these big boys.

In the Southwestern USA, in January, a snow storm caused power brown outs in West Texas, and this caused natural gas compression stations to fail, and this caused a huge shut off of natural gas for the northern ? of the State of New Mexico. These giant systems are only as strong as their weakest link. And as this example, or the example in Japan (electric failure caused cooling pumps to fail), or the example of the Gulf Oil Spill (faulty cut off valves caused a melt down of the undersea well). The weak links are not nearly as critical if you have a million people “Making their own”. We call it distributed generation, but in simple terms it simply means that people put mini power stations on their homes, using wind, solar PV, and solar water heating. In many cases, these systems can make more power than the home needs and excess power flows back to the power company to help the overall demand for electricity.

If you think about it, as electric cars develop and emerge, we will find more and more people generating their own electricity both for their homes and transportation.

ISN’T IT TIME THAT WE MAKE OUR OWN POWER?

When people make their own power, and natural disasters occur, they are not dependant upon the "weakest link" of giant power systems.

We have the technology, tax credits, the numbers work and as energy prices continue to go up because of depletion of the world’s oil reserves, it is time. We don’t need giant Wind Farms or giant solar collection farms. That only replicates the “giant concentrated system” that has the weak links. We need individuals, taking advantage of government grants, refunds and incentives to get with the program.

We have polluted our oceans and waters with oil and toxic chemicals in search of oil and gas. We have polluted our skies and forests with the toxins from carbon dioxide and from the sulphur nitrates of coal mining and use.We have polluted our air, water, and land with nuclear leaks and exposure of thousands to nuclear leaks.

IT IS TIME TO MAKE OUR OWN.
