Ecuador's political winds will change, Endorsement of Rafael Correa and Maria Caridad Vazquez Queszada
One of the privileges of the “Free Press” and the “Global Press” is the right to study, and report on political trends.
In this article we wish to evaluate and recommend two outstanding emerging new leaders in Ecuador. These candidates are worthy of your research, and your support, as the October 15th elections draw near. Keep an eye on them. They will bring an exciting future for Latin America.
The phrase, "WINDS OF CHANGE" is so appropriate, because both of these individuals are young, educated, devoted, and committed to their nation. They trully respresent the "CONNECTED GLOBAL GENERATION" that we described in the book: FLOWERS FACING THE SUN.
These faces represent the future. Give them the respect they deserve for their intense investment in time and effort, to make this a better world.
RAFAEL CORREA FOR PRESIDENT (SEE HIS SITE: www.rafaelcorrea.com)
RAFAEL CORREA, 43, Candidate for President. He is an economist who served as the economic minister in Ecuador. He holds a doctorate from the University of Illinois. He has in depth knowledge of economics, and has evaluated the impact of American, IMF, and World Bank policies on Ecuador. In some cases, he believes the IMF has been counter productive to the economic future of Ecuador.
He, like the current President, and many others in Ecuador, would like to see the constitution re-written, and reduce the power of traditional “big money” politics in Ecuador.
He is young, personable, energetic, and very determined. I have met him, and find him to be a creative, insightful man. He would make a good President for Ecuador, and certainly would inspire change and reforms in the country. While some of the American press (which has been “influenced” by the Bush team) has tried to discredit him as too liberal, they tend to forget his outstanding credentials in the area of economics.
We endorse Rafael Correa as one of the new emerging leaders in Ecuador.
MARIA CARIDAD VAZQUEZ QUEZADA, FOR CONGRESS OF ECUADOR
(see her site: http://nuevopais21.blogspot.com/2006/08/fotos-de-la-v-asamblea-de-nuevo-pais.html)
MARIA CARIDAD VAZQUEZ QUEZADA, from Cuenca. She is a Candidate for Congress. As a former city councilwoman she has made her mark in politics in the central region of Ecuador.
- She has led initiatives to protect and define women’s rights in Ecuador, but in a constructive way.
- She has created media review committees to help business and media to improve the way they portray people in advertising, particularly women and children.
- She has been involved and led numerous environmental efforts, from nature preserves in the Cajas, to clean up the water campaigns, to recycling, tree protection and plantings.
- But her most courageous policies have been in her confrontation of corruption among some of Ecuador’s wealthiest and most prominent businessmen. She has exposed conflicts of interests, bribes, false accounting, and in general has been an inspirational crusader for the people.
When asked “Why are you running for this office?” She replied. “I don’t need it. I would rather stay in my Cuenca and be with my family. But when I look at my daughter, I want her to know that her mother fought against corruption. And fought for clean air, clean water, and fought to give her a better world. It is for her that I do this.”
Maria Caridad Vazquez is opposing a group, far better funded than she is, and yet the polls indicate that the people love her. They see that she truly does love her country first. She is one of Ecuador’s brightest stars, and an emerging leader for Latin America’s future. We recommend her as one of Ecuador's outstanding politicians.
