BILL WHITE BLASTING AWAY WITH NEW GUN FROM FORT WORTH

The Fort Worth Star Telegram posted this article:

"Firing away in governor's race"

Bill White get rousing support at
Colonial Club in Fort Worth

"FORT WORTH -- Democratic gubernatorial candidate Bill White received an unusual gift Tuesday morning while speaking to a standing-room only gathering of Country Club Friends at Colonial Country Club.

There, he received a Mossberg 20-gauge shotgun, courtesy of Fort Worth's Ben Boothe, an economic, environmental and valuation consultant.

On it was a note that it was a gift "for coyotes and other pests," referring to the incident of GOP Gov. Rick Perry shooting a coyote while out on a jog one day.

"You've got a bigger gun," Boothe said. "Good hunting, Bill White."

Prominent Church Discovers Israeli Abuses to the West Bank

One of the oldest, and most prominent Churches in the USA, the University Christian Church of
University Christian Church, considered
an intellectual and influential "hub"

Ft.Worth hosted a Sunday Morning program meeting by members who recently returned from the West Bank to investigate conditions there.

The program, was intended to be a "Pro Israel, Pro West Bank, Pro USA" program.

But the facts, documented by the respected group, has raised the concerns and disturbed many influential members of the church.

The meeting took place just before the main worship service at University Christian Church, Sunday, April 18th.

The meeting attracted a "standing room audience", of several hundred people, during a teaching time slot that normally attracts small groups.
Fort Worth citizens reported dismal and cruel living conditions in the West Bank of Palestine, imposed on the people there, by Israel.
Of the hundreds of attendees present, one man spoke out and said "Propaganda!" After 5 minutes he left.
But the vast majority were moved because the programs documentation was so powerful. Armed with photos, evidence and on site interviews, UCC's members confirmed that they had witnessed the results of continual persecution by Israel, causing mounting hunger, illness and poverty on the West Bank. They noted "essential means of survival have been gradually taken away".
Carol Ehlman, Judy O'Donnell, and Ed Ackall (who grew up in Palestine), told of Palestinians who have lost:
Child intimidated by soldier
  • the right to own and live in their homes without harassment
  • the right to travel freely to work, school or hospitals
  • the right to own property or have bank accounts that will not be seized
  • freedom from fear of attacks or arrest by soldiers without warrants in their homes throughout the night
  • simple freedom of speech, liberty and safety for their children
  • access to drinking water
  • ability to enter Jeruselem, and loss of jobs inside and outside of their compound
  • they have even lost access to paved roads, and must stay off of "good roads" to travel on "rocky trails" while Israeli auto's zip by on paved highways.

Prominent and respected citizens of Fort Worth, Texas were amazed to observe the living conditions caused by political decisions in Israel. The Sunday meeting, which was supposed to have a few Sunday School class people, grew to several hundred, who were stunned by what they heard from their fellow members. Consider a place like the West Bank, where thousands of people, (including Americans from UCC) "Could not take a bath or even flush comodes for days, because Israel had rationed the water", even though the water runs abundantly just a short distance away in Israeli territory. UCC's members were touched and moved to offer support for the people of

'TEA PARTY' ANSWERS TO 'WHERE SHOULD WE CUT GOVERNMENT SPENDING?'

“I have always been impressed by the fact that there are a surprising number of individuals who never use their minds if they can avoid it, and an equal number who do use thei

r minds, but in an amazingly stupid way.” Carl Jung

A few years ago, I was a part of an influential group that met once a week at the Petroleum Club. There was a man there who was a rabid “conservative” who constantly railed at the government, and its many wasteful projects, always saying ‘We should cut spending of every government program. All the government should do is deliver the mail’ he would say. I learned one day, that he bought his home with the help of an FHA loan. Purchased his farm with the help of a government loan, his life was saved through medical procedures paid for by government programs, and he gladly accepted social security checks every month. When I asked him,

“Which of the programs that have benefited you would you cut?” He grunted and said; “None of them”.

Tarrant County and Fort Worth gets $52,000,000,000 per year in Federal spending. Recently a group of vocal “Tea Baggers” were interviewed by the Fort Worth Star Telegram, after their loud protests of government spending they were asked about which government programs they would actually cut. It was a "reality check". Are these people for real, or are these "Tea Parties" political posturing?

BILL WHITE ANNOUNCES CHANGE FROM SENATE TO GOVERNOR (Received well by Conservatives and Moderates)

Ben B. Boothe Sr. and Bill White

The last Democrat in the Texas Governor’s seat was Ann Richards in 1994. Bill White aims to take that seat back. Back in June, Bill White was running for U.S. Senate and we met him at Steve and Nenetta Tatum’s private home reception. Now in December it is a different world. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson decided to keep her Senate seat, and Tom Scheiffer dropped out of the governor’s race. Yes, Texas politics is like a pin ball machine, with candidates bouncing all over the place. But while the title may change for White,

his philosophy remains solidly moderate. He is not an ideologue, not a mean spirited man, and his focus and respectful charisma has helped him to be an effective leader. That would be a refreshing change for Texas.

When Kay Bailey Hutchinson was running for Governor, we saw a real Texas brawl, with Rick Perry. Insults, charges, and counter charges making headlines daily. Did you notice? Bill White is very respectful. He has strong convictions, but constantly avoids personal attacks staying with the high ground of issues and suggestions for making ours a better place. I flew to Amarillo last Monday, and the TV was filled with political mud slinging of the governor's race. Bill White simply takes the high ground, and runs on a solid record of past business achievements as well as being one of Houston's outstanding mayors. When asked how he would respond to "slander tactics", he simply said: "Most Texans are tired of that name calling. We will stay focused

Bill White, Wise, not a Mud Slinger

on the moderate middle, where most people are."

Bill White has been most impressive in his years as Mayor of Houston. We supported him when he was running for Senate, and we support him as a potentially great Governor of Texas. Today he mentioned that Texas has the highest home insurance rates of any state in the USA. "When Texas ranks 50 in insurance affordability for young couples who wish to buy a home something is wrong." he said. That is typical of Bill White, a soft spoken, well thought out suggestion of solving an issue, that most people were unaware of.

Obama Intoxicated by atmosphere of Situation Room?

Mr. Obama, End the War!

Situation Room, Where Boys Play
Ulitimate Games of Life and Death, After Pizza

It must be an intoxicating atmosphere, the “situation room” in the basement of the White House. Presidents there become fascinated with the technology and “power” of the military. They see satellite photos, and military reports and confidential messages from CIA operatives and grunts of power from uniformed generals and suddenly become entranced with it all.

But, we don’t need to continue this war, against tribal leaders, poor mountain people who are ill educated, fiercely independent and living a religious cultural spectrum that is hundreds of years old. As for the Taliban, those clerics are poor, mean spirited, and will still be preaching violence and hatred 100 years after we have gone. It is more reasonable to pity and ignore them, than to spend our children's blood killing their disciples. Truth, education, economic development will do far more than wars to change their world.

We don’t need to spend another 100 Billion Dollars, or lose another 4,000 American lives.

We don't need the moral weight of killing more civilians.

62% of Bankruptcies caused by Medical Expense in USA

A recent study by Harvard Law School and Ohio University concluded that 62% of all bankruptcies in the USA, for 12 months June to June, 2009 were caused by medical expenses. Hospitals, drug companies, doctors, and insurance companies got most of the money.

Over 800,000 Americans filed bankruptcy during this time, because they were sick, and the system simply took all their money and assets.

This reminded me of Franklin Roosevelt’s speech to the nation, January 11, 1944.

Tom Schieffer for Governor of Texas

It was a pleasure to see Tom Schieffer this past Saturday in Fort Worth.

Tom Schieffer for Texas Governor

He and I spoke of Texas politics and shared some stories. I told him a story about my congressional race for U.S. Congress against the "Menace from Ennis" a few years ago and he laughed. It seemed that he remembered things about my campaign that I had forgotten. He is a man you quickly want to call your "friend" because he is the type of person who will help his friends. If you meet Tom Schieffer, you will notice that he is a quick, smart, dignified, diplomatic and impressive man. His style is that of a diplomat, and he gives a powerful impression. Tom has a brilliant mind, and contacts from throughout the world, who respect him. He has convictions, and a sense of integrity.

Tom Schieffer reminds people of Lloyd Bentsen, and no wonder, because he worked for Bentsen years ago. Texas needs someone with this solid image.

Tom and VIP's

From baseball to national defense, Tom Schieffer has a strong record of public service with a successful law and business career. He has a firm commitment to public education, extensive roots in the Texas Democratic Party and an ability to rise above partisanship to serve his state and country effectively.

Bill White, Mayor of Houston, a good choice for U.S.Senate

Steve and Nenetta Tatum held a private invitation only gathering for Bill White in their historic Westover Hills home recently. Nenetta's roots run deep in Fort Worth. Her father was Amon Carter Jr. . Her grandfather Amon G. Carter, the famous oilman and publisher of the Fort Worth Star Telegram. Steve Tatum is an established attorney in Fort Worth. Amon G. Carter was "Mr. Fort Worth" and considered two of his best friends Franklin Roosevelt and Will Rogers.

Ben Boothe Sr. and Bill White

Bill White carries with him a torch of light with a similar to these "greats" who have crossed Texas.

Bill White has long been on the VIP reader's list of "Boothe's Global Perspectives" and we have followed his political career, considering him a man with special qualities. He told me that he appreciated the impact of our writings. It is not surprizing that Mayor Bill White reported contributions totaling more than $2.6 million in just over 100 days since launching his U.S. Senate campaign, according to a report filed with the Federal Elections Commission.

Bill White received by Fort Worth's VIP's

Some of Fort Worth's most influential mover's and shakers listened as Bill White showed a quiet, persuasive and insightful skill as he communicated his philosophy of government. In contrast to the disaster of New Orleans, when Houston was hit by Ike, Bill White organized private churches, and private community leaders, to do the recovery effort. He didn't depend upon the State or Federal Governments but took initiative and leadership in hand and had Houson back into recovery in amazing time. Thousands of citizens and business leaders pitched in with his encouragement. He literally recruited the good citizens of Houston, to a team to save their city. And it was effective!

There is a difference between a manager and a leader. Bill is a leader, with the vision to inspire managers to do his bidding.

Houston is one of the world's great cities, and Bill White has demonstrated how leadership is supposed to work. He has led the city through persuasion and diplomacy, has made Democrats and Republicans work together happily, while keeping Houston a prosperous and good place to live.
